I Love Foster The People Because Reasons!!

Breaking News: I LOVE Foster The People!

The year is almost over in a matter of hours so I thought I'd list exactly why I adore my favorite band of all time as we bid goodbye to 2024. We have so much to look forward to in the coming weeks, such as: tours, side gigs, festivals, and so much more to come that you won't have time to feel bored.

Summer of this year was explosive AF when I finally got up close and personal to an FTP album cycle. Along with starting a blog, posting daily announcements, and purchasing every record of their discography on CD and vinyl, I've grown super attached to my fab five over the course of two years. Since 2010 it's always been one song here and one song there, albeit, since 2022 this new chapter has unfolded in slow drips and drops. I really am so happy I've decided to become a fully converted Foster kid going into 2025.

The next reason I adore Foster The People so much is their authenticity in terms of musical direction and aesthetic. What I mean by that is I have yet to hear any tracks deliberately copycatting another artist's sound. Too many bands rip off other songwriters' song structures or chord progressions, melodies, and sometimes even lyrics to pass off like their own, but they're not fooling anybody. Of course, by listening and overanalyzing the music everyday, especially after finding out the boys actually produced full-length studio albums, their influence has caused me to leave the past behind and walk into the future a brand new woman! The landscape of music has changed so much in the past decade I just want to grip whatever good thing comes my way and never let it go.

Speaking of musicality, since Isom Innis joined the band as an official member in 2016, he's made major changes to the band's sound and actually improved it since the release of “Supermodel”, including the rest of their discography thereafter. I will always adore “Sacred Hearts Club”, but “Paradise State Of Mind” will forever be Foster The People's magnum opus. I can't wait to hear future efforts now that they've fine tuned their craft. After this masterpiece, the sky's the limit, particularly since music these days is a dumpster fire and could use a hero to save it from burning out.

The last reason is their charm! If you've ever seen live cuts or videos you'll notice their vivacious and fun aesthetic. Mark Foster is always dancing and the two drummer dynamic, back when Ponsi was still an active member of the band, is super cool to watch. The polished but casual aesthetic perfectly matches the laid back atmosphere conveyed through their music. Foster's lyrics capture what it means to be a flawed human being in a confusing world.

There are so many other reasons I adore these boys but I'm going to leave it here. Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you in 2025!
