Hey, guys
I'm a bit excited to post today's news! Not because I just splurged on the vinyl edition of Peel's “Acid Star” this morning, but because I keep finding nifty Foster The People stuff while on my random internet searches. I just discovered two cool thirty second B-sides from Sean and Isom's debut called “Isolation Blip 1” and “Isolation Blip 2” on YouTube via fan channel Foster The Music from five months ago. Let's get going on these marvelous tracks.
The two clips first premiered on NTS Radio on March 26, 2024 when the duo were invited to play post-punk, new electronics and US rap, and even original recordings on air. “Blip 1” is similar sounding to Daft Punk while the YouTuber describes “Blip 2” as “textural and ethereal using proper headphones”. I used ear buds to assess these tracks, and I have to agree with them on this one. I love both clips so it's hard to choose a favorite, however, I'm sort of partial to the first one.
These B-sides demonstrate why Sean and Isom are the best choice members, not only as an independent entity, but also as Mark Foster's bandmates for FTP's new era after the departure of Mark Pontius and Cubbie Fink, the OG members of the old Foster The People. Isom is musically compatible with both Foster and Cimino as their styles blend together beautifully. “Paradise State Of Mind” and “Acid Star” are absolutely the most exquisite albums of 2024, and prove once again, good music exists if you know where to look!
If you haven't snagged either album yet, I suggest you do so as part of your last minute Christmas shopping as they're God-tier records on the industry food chain. I love you, and I'm wishing you the best holiday season, whatever you celebrate.
