Unqiue Designs On Foster The People's CD and Vinyl Variants

Hey, guys

Glancing at my Foster The People CD and vinyl collection I noticed the artwork has varied overtime since gaining popularity since 2010. As always, I adore the bright colors and aesthetics of the LA Indie rockers spanning everything they've ever done up to this point so let's talk about it in today's post.

Let's begin by discussing the basic palette and design of “Torches” which debuted May 23, 2011 on Columbia Records. When “Torches X” dropped in 2021 the design varied with the album pressed on bright orange wax and the tag resembled vintage hippie font from the 70s. For a summertime gem such as the band's first record I love the color and design schemes of the album.

There's a live edition of “Torches” from 2011 featuring a DVD, but the cover art is black instead of white and orange. Doing a Google search I've found both a black and orange color scheme to it, and I need to remember to get it via Amazon sometime.

Unfortunately, “Supermodel” didn't vary much from CD to vinyl. The concept of the artwork is pretty similar to the first record but it's a beautiful shade of blues and greens. I agree the palette is more mature for such a serious record with lyrics about aging gracefully in a social media and celebrity obsessed world. The vinyl is a basic black and the tag card is basic and easy to understand.

When we get to “Sacred Hearts Club” the fun ramps up again with “SHC” pressed on a limited edition hot pink vinyl. The artwork on the CD and record tag now features a geometric pattern using pink and red shades. Photos used in the album booklet shows the guys dressed in their slick and black getups inviting you into the club or chilling on a couch.

The 2020 EP “In The Darkest Of Nights, Let The Birds Sing” the album was only pressed onto bright bluish purple wax without a CD format, and the cover art was of a gas station in the middle of the night. This was their first effort without a label so only a limited amount of copies were sold on the band's website.

We've arrived at FTP's fourth album “Paradise State Of Mind” now on Atlantic Records. The artwork on the CD is more chaotic and busy with so much going on. The tag on the vinyl edition is more simplified as it's two creatures escaping the hell of the claustrophobic room. It all reminds me a bit of an insane variation of “Supermodel” as do the lyrics and some of the music. "PSOM" was pressed on an array of variants, including: blue sparkle, glow in the dark green, translucent pink and yellow. I love both albums no matter their artistic direction.

Okay, kids! That's all for today. See ya later!

A Product Review Of "Paradise State Of Mind" Ordered From Foster The People's Webstore

Hey, everyone  Ordering Foster The People's new album “ Paradise State Of Mind ” two days before my birthday in mid-June of 2024 was a fun experience. Mind you, I did extensive research on the different color vinyl variants available before selecting the right one via the band's webstore for about two or three weeks until my birthday weekend. This isn't the first time I've snagged an FTP album on wax from their store, because come the first week of December of 2023, I actually purchased the special tenth anniversary edition of “ Torches ” with leftover money after my book deal fell through. I assure you using the Foster The People's webstore both times has been a huge win for me, and today I'll tell you how and why that is.  The end of November wasn't the best as a career deal I'd been anticipating since autumn 2015 shattered before my eyes. I, however, now had a wad of leftover money to burn in any way I pleased, and what better ...
