It's been Seven Years Since Foster The People Released Sacred Hearts Club!

Hey, everyone

Foster The People returned during the summer of 2017 when their third album “Sacred Hearts Club” hit shelves on July 21st. Adding two touring musicians into the fold after original member Cubbie Fink left in 2015 was not only a smart move, but it also allowed the boys to reinvent their sound as well as their whole aesthetic. It's been seven years since the original release of my favorite FTP album, so obviously, I'm going to post about this underrated gem right here, right now. Let's get it!

By the end of the decade Foster The People had reinvented their image by trading in their caps and t-shirts for snazzy leather jackets and shades to let the world know they were back to rock it out. This went well as they resembled the Ramones in certain interviews, and their onstage presence commanded even more energetic attention than previous eras because of their new hard hitting tunes.

On April 27, 2017, Foster The People digitally released “III” as an EP to, not only to satiate fans' need for their favorite band, but also to show off what was to come in Foster Land. The boys released the first of three singles “Doing It For The Money” the same day as the EP, followed by “Loyal Like Sid and Nancy” on June 30, 2017, and finally, one of my favorite FTP songs, “Sit Next To Me” on July 13, 2017. These bangers, along with the rest of the album, cover everything from love to politics, and even religion as the central theme running through the record.

Sacred Hearts Club” was the final effort to be released from Columbia Records and the last full-length album to feature original drummer Mark Pontius. Beginnings and endings are also a huge theme in SHC. Case in point, “Static Space Lovers” is the first time the boys added a female vocalist, which was none other than Jenna Malone. I thought that was a nice touch and also something different to experiment with on future songs.

It's rather unfortunate “Sacred Hearts Club” didn't chart as well as its predecessors. It only reached #47 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on US Top Alternative Albums. I find this unfair since this was probably the band's best effort to date, so far, than “Torches” or “Supermodel”. Today it turns seven years old, but I wish everyday this era would come back as I don't feel as though I fully enjoyed it.

Driving around town or back and forth from work listening to “Sit Next To Me” is a happy memory I'll always carry from this era, and it successfully hooked me onto Foster The People years after the shitstorm that was Kicks in 2011.

Check out the audio visualizer for “Pay The Man” below. Happy birthday, “Sacred Hearts Club”. I love you!

A Product Review Of "Paradise State Of Mind" Ordered From Foster The People's Webstore

Hey, everyone  Ordering Foster The People's new album “ Paradise State Of Mind ” two days before my birthday in mid-June of 2024 was a fun experience. Mind you, I did extensive research on the different color vinyl variants available before selecting the right one via the band's webstore for about two or three weeks until my birthday weekend. This isn't the first time I've snagged an FTP album on wax from their store, because come the first week of December of 2023, I actually purchased the special tenth anniversary edition of “ Torches ” with leftover money after my book deal fell through. I assure you using the Foster The People's webstore both times has been a huge win for me, and today I'll tell you how and why that is.  The end of November wasn't the best as a career deal I'd been anticipating since autumn 2015 shattered before my eyes. I, however, now had a wad of leftover money to burn in any way I pleased, and what better ...
